Winter sports holiday in Orcières Village and Orcières 1850
Located between the sunny Southern Alps and the Northern Alps, Orcières has everything you need for a fabulous winter sports holiday. Orcières is made up of Orcières Village and Orcières 1850. Orcières Village is located at an altitude of 1400 m and is the original village, where you can enjoy rural charm, peace & quiet and scenic surroundings. Orcières 1850 is the ski resort/ski station located 5 km away (at an altitude of 1850 m). From Orcières 1850, also called Orcières Merlette, you can access the Orcières 1850 skiing region. There are plenty of lovely ski chalets and chalet résidences to choose from in Orcières 1850 (and adjoining hamlets like Le Veyers and Les Estaris).
Orcières 1850, the family-friendly ski resort
Orcières 1850 has been awarded the Famille-Plus label thanks to its family-friendly ambiance and professionally run children's facilities and activities. When you’re not out on the slopes, there is still plenty of relaxation and excitement to be found in the resort for both young and old. You can visit two recreational centres, for example. The first is the La Grand Ourse (“The Big Bear), a sports and relaxation centre with a swimming pool, skating rink, wellness centre (sauna, hammam, Jacuzzi and massage), workout facilities, bowling lanes and cinema all under one roof. Thanks to the glass walls, you can enjoy views of the scenic mountain landscape while having fun! The other option is La Petite Ourse (“The Little Bear”), designed especially for children ages 3 months to 12 years. This recreation centre has a day care centre, fun activities, games and both an indoor and outdoor play area. Children can also take ski lessons, of course. The ESF ski school has a Ski Kindergarten (Piou Piou, ages 3-6 years), complete with a mini ski lift and toboggan run, where kids can learn to ski on their own slope in a fun, playful way. There is also a (new) slope for children ages 6-12 years called Opoualand, which includes snow tunnels, catapults, slalom slopes and games. Orcières 1850 ski resort
The Orcières ski resort is called Orcières 1850 and is a sunny skiing region with more than 100 km of slopes, a snow park, beginner zone and innovative ski lift system (3 Télémix). Orcières also offers an extensive network of cross-country tracks in the Haut Champsaur Valley. In addition to skiing, Orcières has plenty of other exciting activities to enjoy in the winter landscape, from ice climbing (Haut-Champsaur), paragliding and speed riding, to ice diving, riding on the snow serpent, ice racing (car or quad bike), snowmobiling and, for adrenaline seekers, taking the ‘Roll Air Câble’! Other options include dog sledding with huskies and snowshoe trekking through the scenic landscape. After an activity-filled day, you can sit back and relax in your own comfortable ski chalet in Orcières.
