Fun on the slopes in Matrei in Osttirol and Großglockner mountain
Matrei in Osttirol (975 m) is the holiday centre of the Hohe Tauern National Park. This winter sports village (population 5,000) is relatively quiet and has a relaxed atmosphere. The town has a medieval church and a few restaurants and shops, but not much in the way of nightlife. Just outside the village you will find the lifts to the Matrei (Goldried) skiing area. Explore the area from the comfort of a luxury apartment (with sauna), traditional wooden ski chalet or holiday home (in full or in part) in Matrei in Osttirol.
Skiing in the Großglockner Resort Kals-Matrei
Matrei in Osttirol and Kals am Großglockner together form the snow-sure ski resort of Großglockner Resort Kals/Matrei, a fantastic ski region with 110 km of slopes. The Matrei-Goldried skiing area also contains a snow park and, for young skiers, a Kinderland Matrei, located directly at the mountain station of the Goldried gondola.
