Fun on the slopes in Matrei in Osttirol and Großglockner mountain

Matrei in Osttirol (975 m) is the holiday centre of the Hohe Tauern National Park. This winter sports village (population 5,000) is relatively quiet and has a relaxed atmosphere. The town has a medieval church and a few restaurants and shops, but not much in the way of nightlife. Just outside the village you will find the lifts to the Matrei (Goldried) skiing area. Matrei in Osttirol and Kals am Großglockner together form the snow-sure ski resort of Großglockner Resort Kals/Matrei, a fantastic ski region with 110 km of slopes. The Matrei-Goldried skiing area also contains a snow park and, for young skiers, a Kinderland Matrei, located directly at the mountain station of the Goldried gondola.

A lovely house located in small Aschau. A beginners ski slope is within walking distance. Our grandchildren aged 11 and 8 had a wonderful time there with sleds and skis/snowboard. For great snow fun, you can reach the various gondolas in about 10-20 minutes by car or ski bus. The nearest is the Brixen/Westendorf gondola. Further on you will find the Maierlbahn, the Gaisberg and the Fleckalmbahn. And a little further Kitzbuhel. In short, plenty to do in winter. Right next to the cozy house there is a nice restaurant and 2 houses further a small SPAR with everything you need and with fresh rolls in the morning. The house is fully equipped. We: grandparents, parents and 2 grandchildren had a wonderful time here. Each has its own sleeping compartment with bathroom. Washing machine and dryer are also nice if you come back from the slopes with wet clothes. I can imagine that it is also an El Dorado here in summer with so many beautiful walking and cycling routes! So we will definitely come back!

Prima appartement, compleet uitgerust (alleen geen wasmachine en -droger aanwezig). Van particuliere eigenaar en daardoor gezellig ingericht, boeken en spelletjes, tv's in alle kamers. Goede WiFi voor wie dat op prijs stelt. Balkon met prachtig uitzicht op NP Hohe Tauern, andere kant van appartement veel verkeerslawaai van doorgaande weg maar alleen storend als ramen 's nachts open staan. In juni is het appartementencomplex erg rustig, slechts enkele appartementen bezet. De naastgelegen gondelbaan opent pas eind juni, het restaurant beneden is gesloten buiten het winterseizoen. Voor wandelen, fietsen en uitstapjes zijn er in de wijde omgeving genoeg mogelijkheden. Wel altijd de auto nodig voor boodschappen e.d., Mittersill ligt op 8 km afstand in het dal.

Had a wonderful stay, the cottage is very nicely decorated, everything you need is there. Everything was clean on arrival. The beds are great. The location is fantastic, a wonderful view over Aschau, a cozy little village, with some super good restaurants and a small supermarket within walking distance (2 minutes). Beautiful hiking trails from the house. Kirchberg is a 10-minute drive by car. The bus stop is opposite the supermarket. We will definitely go there again!

Great apartment with a lovely covered balcony with garden furniture where you can sit even if the weather is not the best. Bathroom with bath, which our boys enjoyed, slept well and were wonderfully rested after this holiday.
