Maarberg Resort was reopened in May 2014 as a luxury small holiday resort. It comprises a total of nine luxury, modern apartments in different sizes. The resort is fully equipped with every modern convenience, leaving nothing to be desired. You also have a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains from most of the apartments. The beautiful ponds with different fish and turtles lend the resort an added touch of luxury and a sense of peace.
Maarberg Resort is located at the edge of the forest in a peaceful spot set against a slope, just 400 m from the village centre of Schalkenmehren am See. There is a lake here which is perfect for swimming, rowing, sailing and relaxing. The village also offers a choice of good restaurants, a few cafés and a small supermarket. If you want larger supermarkets, shops and restaurants, Daun is 5 km away.
The resort has a reception, sauna* and solarium*. There is also a washing machine* and tumble dryer* available. In this room there is also a shared vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board. At the reception there is a fridge with a choice of (soft) drinks*. There is plenty of parking, space for bicycles and a shared BBQ area. This area is to the rear of the building and enjoys sea views. The entire resort has WiFi access (for a fee and per device).
Schalkenmehren is a pretty and well-known village with approximately 600 residents. It is right next to Schalkenmehrener Maar lake, a volcanic lake. In addition to water sports, there are plenty of beautiful hiking trails around the region's various lakes. Two well-known hiking routes are the Leiserpad and the Eifelsteig. The famous and one of Germany's most beautiful cycling routes, the 'Maare - Mosel Radweg' (a former railway), runs alongside Schalkenmehren. The volcanic Eifel region is famed for its many 'Maare' (volcanic lakes). These are also known as the eyes of the Eifel and are located by or 2 to 3 km from Schalkenmehren. The River Mosel is not far away either. It is certainly worth the while to take trip to out to Cochem, Traben-Trarbach, Bernkastel or Germany's oldest city, Trier. Or you can visit the neighbouring countries of Belgium Luxembourg or France. The Nürburgring with all it has to offer, the many palaces and castles, animal parks, amusement parks, summer tobogganing, hot air balloon trips, golf, museums and in the winter skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing and skating are just a few examples of all the other entertainment this region has to offer.
In short; Maarberg Resort is a luxury holiday spot where you can regain your inner tranquillity, with more than enough to do in the immediate vicinity.
