Residence la Roche-Posay is located in the heart of the village of the same name, which is renowned for its skin care products and thermal spas. The residence has an open-air swimming pool (open in the summer months). The Centre Thermal de la Roche Posay is just 250 metres from the residence. You can enjoy the ultimate wellness experience here: peace, quiet and relaxation. There is also an 18-hole golf course 1.2 km away for anyone who wants to hit the green. This is only a small selection of the recreational options that the surrounding area offers with its many forests, valleys, rivers and hills. You can go kayaking in the Creuse and Gartempe rivers, which converge at Roche-Posay. Fishing is another possibility; anglers can head to La Brenne nature park (15 km away), among other places. Known as the land of 1000 lakes, this preserve is indeed full of lakes, pools and marshes. The area is also a great destination for hikers. Explore the old mediaeval village of La Roche-Posay and discover the Romanesque church, the town gate and the fortified walls, all of which bear witness to the village's rich history. There are festivities all year round in the surrounding area, from Carnival and wine tastings to horseracing at the track in Gatinière.
When staying at la Roche-Posay, also be sure to visit the mediaeval village of Angles-sur-l'Anglin (12 km), known as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
The many castles on the Loire are certainly worth a visit as well! The nearest of these, Château du Grand-Pressigny, is 19 km from the residence. There are around 140 Châteaux de la Loire, most of them along the banks of the river itself. Most of these renaissance castles are open to visitors, some year round, others only in summer. Many of the castles also have lovely gardens in the Baroque style, gardens that will transport you back in time.
Or travel into the future instead, at the Futuroscope theme park which is devoted to multimedia, cinematography and futuristic audiovisual techniques (40 km).
