Holiday home in the countryside in Langatte

On arrival the owner was already present at the house. She received us friendly and welcoming. Showed us the house. That evening there was a wedding behind the house. Fortunately not much trouble, because the weather was bad. We were later approached by other back neighbors that they thought we had complained to the police about the wedding, which was absolutely not the case. Did they believe us? It will. Anyway. So it seems that the house is completely free, but that is not the case. The back neighbors (older people who make a lot of noise with leaf blowers and other activities) were loud and clearly present. Fortunately not all day long. The house is located at an altitude of approximately 600 meters. First larger supermarket (Le Clerc) is located 20 minutes lower. Washable. We have eaten twice in the nearby restaurant (Zollstock). Very welcoming and tasty (and lots of) food. Experience a day trip to Strasbourg, Colmar and Riquewihr, as well as the Plan Encline. Last day we visited the small village of Saverne, with the palace of Rohan. Of course we have also been to the church on the Rock Dabo. You shouldn't miss that if you look forward to it all week. The dog could go free all week and went its own way. We were regularly lost, then she was playing on the adjacent pasture. Ideal without traffic nearby. Sleeping was upstairs with a steep staircase. That was getting used to, but manageable. The bed was not ideal, very low, due to a sloping day and getting out on one side. All in all, we had a great week in the Vosges and Alsace.The cottage was a nice stay for a week.We thought it should have been the other way around. to the side where the car is in. Then you would have a lot more room to sit outside and then you are almost as good as sunset.

Excellent reception by Stephanie and Olivier with a nice freshly baked cake and bottle of apple juice. The cottage is great in terms of size and certainly the facilities have contributed to our happy holiday. The garden at the cottage was a wonderful place for our dog Chivas to run loose as it was completely fenced in. The beautiful weather, the private swimming pool, the chickens and the horse in the large garden completed the restful environment. which are right next to the house with Chivas and also visited a number of tourist spots. We will come back again in the future and hope to be able to use the restaurant which Olivier is building in a wooden log cabin. Really the only point of criticism is the limited accessibility of the Wifi and not being able to find Dutch channels on the satellite receiver. The loft where we were was very nice and creatively decorated. On the first floor was everything you needed: a kitchen, a bathroom, a sitting area and a dining table. The first floor could be reached via a steel spiral staircase in the back garden (therefore not suitable for people with mobility problems). On the second floor there is a children's room in the back that can be closed with a door. In addition, there are 2 double beds on the second floor in a reasonably open space that can only be closed with a curtain. Furthermore, here is a corner with washing machine and dryer. The garden is great for sitting and playing. Qua environment is quite a hamlet, but with young children there is plenty to do: a swimming pool nearby, an old-fashioned steam train, a toboggan run; all accessible by car.
