Les Portes du Soleil, an ideal winter sports destination

Les Portes du Soleil is located on the French-Swiss border . It is one of the largest ski resorts in the world with at least 650 km of ski runs. All the ski runs in the resort are perfectly linked. The area is excellent for real skiing enthusiasts. The resort on the French side is ultramodern. On the other hand, there are pretty villages on the Swiss side that are particularly welcoming due to the excellent après-ski.

On the French side of Les Portes du Soleil you will find Avoriaz, Châtel, Morzine and Les Gets. Avoriaz is one step ahead of all the other areas in this ski resort due to its central location. This is also the resort with the best snow guarantee in Les Portes du Soleil. The special architecture and the well-organised activities also add to the appeal of this ski resort. You can visit the car-free winter village by horse sleigh or snow scooter. Châtel is an authentic mountain village with restaurants and pubs full of atmosphere.

The ski resorts Champéry and Morgins are situated on the Swiss side. The Champéry resort is ideal for walkers as this is the best winter walking area of Les Portes du Soleil. There are perfect valley descents for skiers and all the ski runs are very well maintained. The village is characterised by its old charm and modern luxury, which you will also find in the typical chalets.

The key transfer is very nicely arranged through a key safe. Very handy, also for during the holidays, no chance of lost keys or someone standing in front of a closed door. The accommodation was very cozy and spacious. the cottage is very cozy and you immediately feel at home. The area is beautiful, the ski area challenging enough for everyone. Nice restaurants and fantastic views. However, the ski-in / ski-out was very difficult, even for advanced skiers. We have tried to avoid this as much as possible and advise beginners to walk on the road. This was the only thing disappointing about this house. We had a great week.

The house is big and beautifully located. The inside is a bit old, the mattresses were very hard and the toilet downstairs smelled a bit. But overall it is a very nice house and a very well equipped kitchen. The rented towels were nice, big and soft. There"s also a washing machine in the bathroom which came in handy. The very kind and helpful landlord doesn"t speak english very well but made a great effort and with help from Google translate it worked out perfectly. We had a wonderful week on the mountain in the chalet and are looking forward to coming back next time.

It is a beautiful spacious apartment, which indeed is close to the ski lift, so you can from the apartment in your ski gear walk to the elevator. The apartment was clean, but we were apparently the first people since a long time and therefore the apartment was freezing cold and it took two days before it was warm. Tip take extra thick socks or slippers with it, because the tiled floor is very cold. Furthermore, equipped and even Dutch television. Chapelle d 'Abondance is a small quiet village, but the more lively Chatel can be reached by car in 5 minutes

Couldn't have been more perfect. Fabulous Chalet with everything you could need for a family skiing holiday. We were 2 families with 4 adults and 6 children (10 - 17 years), The hot tub, the Sauna, free wifi, table tennis table, spacious living areas (inside and out), real fire, comfortable beds, not to mention the beautiful views meant that everyone was happy and relaxed after a day on the slopes.
