If you want to stay in an authentic French house on an estate, Marende is a good choice. The house is completely free with an enclosed garden (good for small children and/or the dog). Inside it is cool because of the thick walls. The kitchen is spacious with a huge fireplace. The kitchen is well equipped, with an oven, microwave and dishwasher. The large fridge is also a plus. The salon is "chic old fashioned". Even the TV is not recent. If you want to use the chromecast, take a connector vga (mnl) and hdmi (vrl) with you. Or sit in the garden in the evening. The bedrooms are very spacious, the beds on the narrow and short side, but that should not spoil the holiday fun and night's rest. From Marende you can easily drive the entire east and west coast. Route du Cap is really worth it, the supermarkets are close by and Valognes itself is a nice town.

Sfeervol huis, vrij en rustig gelegen. Fris, schoon en ruim. Er lag – heel attent – een doos met heerlijke Normandische cake-jes als welkomstpresentje op de keukentafel te wachten. We hebben eigenlijk alleen de woonkeuken gebruikt, omdat je daar het gezelligst zat, naast de open haard, die we overigens niet echt goed aankregen met de wat te vochtige kranten en klammig hout. Ook trok de open haard niet zo heel goed. Maar goed, dat was uiteraard niet zo'n probleem. De twee slaapkamers (met heerlijke bedden) waren lekker ruim en bevatten in tegenstelling tot de beschrijving van Belvilla allebei een tweepersoonsbed (idd 140) plus een eenpersoonsbed. De badkamer was ook heel verzorgd, en alles was fris en schoon. Helaas was ons verblijf maar een weekje en hadden we ook nog twee dagen regen, dus we zijn voornemens om nog eens terug te komen omdat Normandie veel mooier bleek te zijn dan verwacht.

Nice house! Very well equipped with almost all practical things you can think of. We were very happy with good kitchen utensils and crockery. Minus point according to the adolescent: although the WiFi connection itself was strong, the internet was quite slow, the same for 4G. The cottage is in a quiet place, great place to explore the tip of Normandy. For part of the D-Day beaches it is a bit far away (Omaha beach is an hour's drive, so we did not visit the beaches further east), although that just depends on what you find far. Cherbourg is nearby, as is Tatihou, the Vauban and St Mere Eglise tours. Last but not least: Landlord Vincent is very easygoing and nice!
